Brindisi has got a theatre unique in the world, since that it is “suspended” over an archaeological area. Its construction, started in the ‘60s, was many times interrupted after the discovery of the remains of the old Roman town. The project was revised and  led to the decision of building a theatre which allowed to leave the archaeological area being visible, by a floor made of crystal in its foyer, letting the underlying area be seen.  The excavation area can also be visited with tourist guides.
