Opposite the theatre there is one of the most interesting historical mansions in the town, Palazzo Granafei Nervegna. In its oldest part, it dates back to the 16th century and is called after the name of two families which owned it. Today it houses the boardrooms of the Municipality of Brindisi. In the adjoined building, which was the seat of the Court of Assize in the past, there is the room housing the huge capital made from white marble, which has been on the Roman column for centuries. The exhibition also tells the history of the monument and the stages of disassembling and restoration of it, completed in 2008.
